Planning the Tournament - Weigh-In Strategies that employment

 One of the primary things a tournament director must be sure of too soon tournament morning is running the weigh-ins. in a very small tournament, the weigh-in room may accommodate a hallway, a scale, and a table.



Within the bigger ones, wrestlers may verify their weight in a very larger room or auxiliary gym. Either way, a high level of efficiency is named for. a complete gym stuffed with overestimated kids and oldsters is waiting.


One Entrance, One Exit


According to Justin Kuraitis, the staff at a Philo, Ohio tournament weighed in sixty-five lyceum teams in one and a half hours. How did they pull this off? that they had multiple rooms.


Different groups of weight classes each had their separate room. The more scales you've got, the faster you'll be able



to weigh. The one thing the staff was unanimous about: keep the coaches out of the area. just one door led into each room, only 1 door led out.


If the wrestler was overweight on one scale, he had the choice to weigh at another scale under staff supervision. Anxious coaches hanging around only caught up the method.


Two people at each scale, one to weigh within the wrestler and record the load, another to create sure participants flow smoothly in and out is all that's needed.


USA Poker Method


At USA sponsored open tournament, the procedure is incredibly simple. Once a wrestler enters the weigh-in room they need three attempts, but they can't leave. If they're over on their first attempt, a wrestler may step off and therefore the scale is reset.




If you fail on your 2nd attempt, you will challenge any scale within the room or the check scale within the hallway. I've had coaches tell me that they asked these young wrestlers if they made it on the check scale. the children would say, "Shucks, no.


I didn't weigh less out there either!" If you cannot make it on the check scale, don't move into the weigh-in room.


I recommend either of those methods because they increase efficiency. We coaches have all spent frantic hours in cramped and smelly locker rooms stumbling overshoes, socks, and gym bags while worrying over that one crucial kid who may be a pound over.


Using these strategies might help alleviate all that pain and suffering. another excuse would be to combat the standard abuses common to youth tournaments, like sneaking dead set run laps during a sauna suit.



A wise coach should study all options before selecting the tactic that best serves him and his tournament said "Justin Kuraitis".
